Even if we can’t physically hug our kids, we’ll be sure they still feel our arms around them, even if it’s virtual!
We continue to live out our mission in spite of covid 19.
Our beliefs shape our actions and our attitudes. Times of uncertainty and difficulty become a litmus test of our beliefs and character. As the coronavirus situation continues to evolve, our staff and partners are ‘leaning in’ to make sure our students are not alone during this unprecedented time.
Many of these students face a host of difficulties when their schools close. Access to food and other basic necessities becomes very difficult. Social-emotional health becomes a greater struggle as tenuous living situations are compounded and intensified by being together full-time, with unemployment and financial struggles creating a heightened level of stress and conflict.
And yet, there is another story that’s beginning to take shape. The goodness and strength of individuals continues to emerge in incredible acts of generosity, kindness and caring. Elevate Phoenix staff is on the leading edge of this movement. With school closures and social distancing measures in place, we have created innovative, safe and responsible ways to continue to build relationships with our students.

Staff is mentoring with video conferencing and providing support through phone calls, texts and social media, in addition to providing families with food and other basic needs. Our methods to accomplish our mission may have changed, but our determination has not.
We build relationships, and we will continue to be available for our kids.
And yet, the unsung heroes are our students. Many are taking the character qualities and life skills we teach in school and putting them to work. THEY ARE SERVING NOW, handing out food, sharing words of hope, giving to neighbors and caring for family members. It’s a true testament to the success of our program. We are so proud of and thankful for everyone involved in our program and will continue to do whatever is needed to ensure we all get through this stronger and as one Elevate Phoenix family.
